Does shopping for the right router scare you?
Relax. We’ve done the homework so you don’t have to.
We get it. Terms like "TAC codes," "Carrier Aggregation," and "Whitelisting" sound more like secret agent talk than home internet.
But choosing the wrong router can mean slow speeds or a SIM card that won’t connect at all.
Whether you’re eyeing MTN, Vodacom, or Telkom, we’re here to make sure you get the right gear the first time.
Here is your stress-free guide to choosing a router that actually works.
1. The "Whitelisting" Mystery: Solved
Some networks (MTN and Vodacom) are picky.
They only allow certain "approved" routers on their Fixed LTE and 5G networks.
- The Risk:
If you buy a random router from a retail store, the network might block your SIM. - The Peace of Mind:
Every router we sell is pre-approved and whitelisted. If you buy from us, it’s guaranteed to "handshake" with your chosen network perfectly.
2. LTE vs. 5G: Matching the Muscle
Don't accidentally put a Ferrari engine in a lawnmower.
- For 5G:
You need a specialized 5G gateway (like the Huawei H155 or ZTE MC888). These are high-performance machines designed to handle the massive speeds 5G offers. - For Fixed LTE:
We only provide Category 6 (Cat6) routers and above. Why? Because basic Cat4 routers can’t "bond" signals together, leading to buffering. Our routers use Carrier Aggregation to keep your Netflix 4K-ready.
3. Load-Shedding? We’ve Got a Plan
Internet is only useful if it stays on. Most of our Fixed LTE and 5G routers run on 12V power.
Pro-Tip:
Ask us about adding a Mini UPS to your order.
It’s a small battery backup that keeps your router running for up to 4 hours during power cuts.
No configuration, no stress—just plug and play.
4. Locked vs. Unlocked: Your Freedom Matters
Some providers lock their routers so they only work with their specific SIM cards.
Our Promise:
We prioritize Open Market/Unlocked hardware where possible.
This gives you the freedom to switch between MTN, Vodacom, or Telkom in the future without having to buy a brand-new router.
The "No-Regrets" Checklist
Before you hit "buy" anywhere else, ask these three questions:
1. Is it Cat6 or higher?
(Anything less is outdated for home use).
2. Is it whitelisted for my specific network?
(MTN and Vodacom are strict!).
3. Is it 5G-ready?
(Don't buy an LTE router if you're paying for a 5G plan).
